Bentonville to Little Rock via a stupid detour

I slept like I was clubbed or like I went clubbing or like my head was a club. But then I woke up in a delightful B&B and asked if they wouldn't mind serving my breakfast outside.

Honestly, I'm writing, but I don't really care.

I had a LOVELY morning and I want to do justice to the beautiful B&B and staff and breakfast and all of that, but I've had a hell of a day. One of those travel days where you don't enjoy it. The drive felt long and the mountainous winding roads hurt my hands and right calf muscle. I saw 6 dead armadillos and two dead deer and I didn't like it. I could not count how many raccoons, squirrels, mice. I think Arkansas should change it's State Nickname from "The Natural State" to the "Death is Natural" state or "The Roadkill State".

How can I talk about how a lovely French man made me gluten free French toast (oh, I just realized he was French and it was French toast!) with buckwheat flour (if you're in on the joke, you would have understood why I had to fight my own eyes to stop them from rolling) and "several" types of sweetener: honey, cane sugar and maple syrup. It was the best French toast I've ever had. I took one bite, smiled and let out a little moan and told the crows and the bees in the backyard with me, "This is delicious!" Then, poached eggs, turkey bacon, fresh fruit, strong coffee and slices of cucumber in a little stack, a sliver of avocado and a quarter of a tomato all with garlic salt. I'm drooling right now, thinking about it. And I was damned full after, which is good because I only really snacked today.

I've currently got a grubhub order on it's way. Grilled salmon, a "basket" of fried okra, lemonade, key lime pie and something else. I went NUTS. Oh, I remember, a pickled green tomato! What even is that?!

Before I started my journey, I made a list of items I wanted to buy. Magnets, a clay thrown mug (I don't know what those are actually called, but I have a mug like that...enamel fired...I don't know...and I really like it) and maybe a flannel shirt.

Ooh, my food is here!

Yeah, so, I got a mug a couple of magnets, a hat that I didn't need and no flannel. I'd like to get a couple more magnets but who cares really. It's just stuff. I don't even know where our magnets are right now. We put them in a box for the move at the end of 2020 and I haven't seen them since.

I am 100% full. So full of good food that I can hardly breathe. My nose is even stuffed up. What I really need is a good, long night's sleep.

This happens towards the end of every trip I take. I start having really long days that wipe me out and I write less and less meaningful stuff until I only post pictures and you have to guess the rest.

I'm all out of energy. Pictures and blurbs are all you get.

The Post That Never Was

I've decided against recapping the Oklahoma City Bombing memorial and museum. It was immersive, intense, and I cried a lot into my mask.
